Senior Home Selling Part I – Setting the Stage

living room with wood tones, blue and white decor

Due to Proposition 19, those ages 55+ will list their homes to leverage the property tax breaks. Once the decision to sell is made, a professional stager should be added to the agent’s and home seller’s team for a successful sale.

Here are some tips to set the stage:

  • Select a stager certified in senior transitions with the right personality temperament, tone of communication, and staging tactics

  • Empower the stager to be the objective expert focused on the goal of selling faster and maximizing equity

  • Have a garage/estate sale and donate items to make room for staging to sell

  • If the seller is elderly, try to relocate him/her before listing to optimize the stage to sell buyer experience

Proposition 19 keeps the circle of real estate life spinning. Hence, there will be more opportunities for renters, young families, and first-timers to purchase a home. With this in mind, IS+S transforms senior properties to showcase their potential and appeal to buyer trends and lifestyles.

As Senior Staging Specialists, we don’t just help sell houses – we help with life transitions. IS+S takes a TLC approach in staging+styling for this demographic with long-lived and deeply loved homes filled with memories. We partner with Seniors Real Estate Specialists (SRES®), professional organizers, senior move managers, retirement communities, and more.

As you set the stage, here are some area resources to consider in the selling process.
